|DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES|
|Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Senior Political Affairs Officer, the Political Affairs Officer will report directly to an international Political Affairs Officer and will be responsible of the following duties:
Performs other related duties as required.
|QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE|
|Education: Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Political Science, International Relations, Political Journalism, Law, Public Administration or related fields. A first level university degree with a relevant combination of academic qualifications and experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree..
Experience: Aminimum of five (5) years wth Master degree or senen (7) years with first level univserity degree(Bachelor) of progressively responsible professional experience in international relations, political analysis or conflict resolution work at national and international levels, and more specifically in the region of assignment; experience in missions and /or prior work in operations in humanitarian or relief field work, national foreign service, international organization, permanent mission to UN or peacekeeping operations. Previous experience working with government institutions including parliamentarian affairs is highly desirable. Political outreach, monitoring, evaluation, facilitation &/or coordination is an asset. Excellent drafting skills in English and Arabic are required.
Language: Fluency in written and spoken (English and Arabic) is essential. Knowledge of another language spoken in Iraq would be an asset
Other Skills: Thorough knowledge of the practice and procedures of the UN organizations. Excellent computer skills
