Each year about 5000 IVLP participants from all over the world are selected by U.S. embassies to travel to the United States to meet and confer with their professional counterparts. Through these encounters, they gain a greater understanding of the cultural and political influences in U.S. society and enjoy a firsthand experience of the United States, its people and its culture. Visitors represent government, politics, technology, the media, education, nongovernmental organizations, the arts, public health, international security, business and trade, and other fields. Over 335 current and former heads of government and state and many other distinguished world leaders in the public and private sectors have participated in the International Visitor Leadership Program.

The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs fosters mutual understanding between the United States and other countries through international educational, professional and cultural exchanges. The Bureau promotes personal, professional and institutional ties between private citizens and organizations in the United States and abroad, and presents U.S. history, society, art and culture in all of its diversity to overseas audiences.

The Office of International Visitors manages and funds the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). Launched in 1940, the IVLP seeks to build mutual understanding between the United States and other nations through carefully designed professional visits to the United States for current and emerging foreign leaders. These visits reflect the visitors’ professional interests and support the foreign policy goals of the U.S. government.

Engineer Salar Abdullah Merie Brifkani is participating in International Visitors Leadership Program this year. He represents Kurdistan Region and Iraq in (Technology in Business) which is under the name of (Scaling Digital Technology Startups). This program set and organized by the Department of States, the US embassies and consulates around the world.

The business of Mr. Brifkani is a Job Portal system for both Job Seekers and Employers. Due to the high level of unemployment rate in Iraq which is over 30% and the successful story of economic development especially in Kurdistan Region, made the  website a good environment for Job Seekers to find a job and Employers to find qualified staff for their business. The portal is working dynamically, Employers advertising vacancies and Job Seekers applying directly. The website has thousands of daily visitors and tens of thousands of individual registered. The website managed by young volunteers and has a long period business model for future. This project has been established in 2012 and it is one of the seven websites which KRG Job Portal depending on, (Kurdistan Works) officially launched by the Prime Minister Mr. Nechirvan Barzani 15 September 2013.

Thumbs up for Mr. Salar Brifkani not only for being chosen to represent Kurdistan, but also for his entrepreneurial and innovative spirit and ideas, wishing you all the best in your future ventures, specially those which have Kurdistan at their core.
